Every year on 24 October we celebrate United Day. On 24 October 1945 was created. United Nations Day is celebrated to remise the anniversary of the official creation of the United Nations in 1945. On this day, the Un charter was ratified by a majority of signatories, including the five permanent members of the security council. This day was first celebrated in 1948.

The United Nations is an intergovernmental organization whose primary role is to maintain world peace and security. United Nations plays an important role in developing friendly relations between countries. The aim of this nation is to achieve international cooperation and be a centre of coordination of the nation.

This year is 76 anniversary of United nation Day and the theme is “Recovering better for an equitable and sustainable world.”

What Is United Nation

As II world war was about to end in 1945 the nation was ruined and it wanted peace. So representative of 50 countries gathered at the United Nations Conference on the international organization in San Francisco, California from 25 April to 26 June in 1945. For the next two months, they proceeded the draft and sign the UN charter, which created a new international organization, the United Nations. It was hoped that it will help prevent another world war.

Four months after San Francisco ended this conference, the united nations officially began, on 24  October 1945. When it came into existence after its charter had been ratified by China, France, the Soviet Union, the United Kingdom, the United States, and the majority of other signatories. The United Nation had 51 members not it has increased to 193 countries.

The United has different organs: the General Assembly, the Security Council, the economic and social council, the trusteeship council, the international court of justice, and the UN Secretariat. It has many different organizations in different sectors: the World Bank, the World Health Organization, Unesco, Unicef, the World Food Programme are some sectors.

Significance Of United Nations Day

It’s not a public holiday, people come together and celebrate the day with pomp and show in various cities in different countries. National costumes, flags, speeches, slogans, and parades are organised to mark the day and promote the idea of diversity and unity.

United Nations plays an important role in developing friendly relations among countries, achieving international cooperation and being a centre for coordination for nations.

United Nations is popular for its work in disaster relief, humanitarian aid, peacekeeping, and international unity every 24 October. So we celebrate its anniversary as a reminder of the importance of:

  • Universal respect for justice and international law
